Mercedes-Benz will unveil the next-generation B-Class at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, featuring the BlueZero E-Cell, will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that will allow for a maximum range of 124 miles on battery power alone.

The new micro-hybrid is planned for 2011 as part of Volvo’s environmentally friendly product development.

Volvo’s product development unit is still hard at work, even as Ford has slapped a price tag on the brand. In an effort to develop more environmentally-friendly vehicles capable of meeting stringent emissions regulations on the horizon, the Swedish automaker has been working on some new highly-efficient vehicles. Mercedes-Benz is preparing its new splitview monitor for the S-Class. It, on one screen will show GPS to the driver and movies to the passenger. The new feature will be launched in 2009.

If you’ve ever sat in the passenger seat of a vehicle with navigation and wished you could watch movies on it, your time is coming soon. Mercedes-Benz and Bosch are working on a Splitview navigation screen for the S-Class that features an eight-inch screen that displays two images at once courtesy of new adjacent pixel technology. The Ford Focus RS hatchback already has orders. Coming in Electric Green, Electric Blue and Frozen White, it seems the green made a hit with those that saw it at the 2008 Paris Motor Show.

So far Ford has about 1,500 orders for the new 2009 Ford Focus RS and about 40 percent of those customers asked that their extreme Ford hatchback be delivered to them in the screaming Electric-Green color that was shown at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. (more…)
