With the roof off, Bugatti’s newly unveiled targa-top Veyron Grand Sport proves to be the slowest Veyron ever, only capable of 225mph. But don’t fret, because with the targa panel in place the Grand Sport will still do 254mph. (more…)

Paying homage to the Bugatti Atlantique 57, Bugatti has released another special editition called the Veyron Sang Noir to join the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang and the more recent Bugatti Fbg par Hermes, The Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir features a new grille, an all-black body, new alloy wheels, headlights with a black background and an orange interior.

The parent company of Bugatti, Volkswagen, announced that the widely acclaimed Bugatti Veyron is slated to have a Targa variant next year. This news confirms what was speculated almost a year ago, and the fact that a former Bugatti executive has spoken out lends a good deal of credibility to the claim – not to mention that Bugatti’s communication chief, Georges Keller, has also confirmed the convertible Veyron is in the works.
The idea behind the Fbg by Hermes was articulated by the Wall Street Journal: “Even in times of recession, people still want to have something of great quality.” So rest assured that while you and I are watching our assets plummet, somewhere out there, there is someone with enough surplus income to spend on an even more expensive version of the world’s most expensive supercar. We brought you news and images of the special-edition Veyron from the floor of the Geneva Motor Show where it was unveiled, and were left wondering if the idea of the empire was really dead. In the video after the jump, the Wall Street Journal seek to understand – and more than that, explain – the justification for such an outlandish expenditure. Follow the jump to watch them try.
