Joining the new 2013 Ford Mustang lineup is the new Boss 302. The 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 gets the same design upgrades as the base models with a sportier appeal with a body kit. It is features a reflective hockey stick graphics package – first modern application on a production car – paying homage to the 1970 Boss 302. Also new for 2013 is heritage-inspired School Bus Yellow paint and Sterling Gray accents on Boss Laguna Seca.

“Everything we did for 2013 is consistent with and links directly back to our 1970 heritage. The reflective stripes and hockey stick graphic in particular mean something to Mustang enthusiasts,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer. “Last year, we proved the car had what it takes to perform, and this year we focused on enhancing its eye-catching looks and celebrating its history.”

Also for 2013, the Ford SYNC system becomes standard for the Boss 302.

Power for the 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 has been upgraded to 444-hp with a maximum torque of 380 lb-ft of torque. A race-inspired clutch with upgraded friction materials transmits power, with a short-throw, close-ratio six-speed manual.

Ford has just taken the covers off of the new 2013 Ford Mustang, which now receives a new design with a more in-your-face grille, new hood and new signature LED headlamps and tail lamps.

“The new Mustang is the perfect example of continuing to build on excellence. It takes the greatness of the 5.0-liter and V6 and pushes the refinement to the next level,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer. “The car has been spot-on functionally and now we’re adding more features and technology to further improve the driver’s experience.”

Design wise, the new 2013 Ford Mustang gets a bunch of changes that you may not notice at a first glance. On the list of changes are:

Functional heat extractors on the hood of the GT that help move hot air out of the engine compartment and cool the engine.

Rocker panels running along the car are now body-color.

The rear has been updated with a high-gloss black panel that connects the tail lamps.

Standard high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps on both V6 and GT models.

A revamped wheels lineup with standard 17-inch wheels for V6 all the way up to 19-inch optional wheels on the GT and V6 Performance Package. Two different finishes on the 17-inch wheel – machined-aluminum and painted. Three optional V6 wheels – an 18-inch polished aluminum set, an updated 18-inch painted aluminum and a 19-inch painted wheel design and a new theme for the V6 Performance Package. Standard 18-inch painted aluminum wheel on both GT and premium GT. 19-inch optional GT wheel with a gloss-black finish.

New colors – Deep Impact Blue and Gotta Have It Green (really?).

V6 and GT  get optional leather-trimmed or cloth Recaro seats that are available on the Shelby GT500 and Boss 302.

Inside you get an optional Ford Track Apps, which delivers performance metrics through a 4.2-inch LCD. The system measures g forces, acceleration times in quarter-mile and 0-60 increments, and displays braking times complete with automatic and countdown starts.

The 2013 Ford Mustang GT’s 5.0 liter engine will now develop 420-hp – up from 412-hp. Those that select an automatic-equipped Mustang (don’t know why you would) will be able to shift own gears with new SelectShift Automatic transmission, which is now standard.

The 2013 Ford Mustang GT also gets the new GT Track Package, which is only available on the manual GT Mustangs with a 3.73 axle. It gives buyers an engine cooler, upgraded radiator, performance friction brake pads and the same Torsen differential that’s on Mustang Boss 302. The package also adds the current Brembo Brake Package, with 14-inch vented front discs, 19-inch alloy wheels and summer performance tires.

What else? The V6 Performance Package is now available for automatic models for the first time.

The 2013 Ford Mustang will be built at AutoAlliance International Plant in Flat Rock, Mich. and will go on sale early next year.

Over the weekend, FoMoCo launched a new Facebook campaign for the 2013 Ford Mustang prior to its debut at the 2011 LA Auto Show later this week. The campaign consisted of Mustang fans sharing the ‘Ford Mustang’ badge on Facebook. Every time 5,000 fans shared the badge Ford would reveal a teaser images of the 2013 Mustang.

Well, it seems like the Internet couldn’t wait for Ford to release the teasers and now all images have been leaked.

“It looks like the passion our Ford Mustang fans have for 2013 has lead to an early reveal of all four Mustang images,” Ford said in a Facebook status update. “But we’re not done yet! Come back on 11/15/2011 for the FULL reveal of our entire 2013 Mustang lineup!”

Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally vows that revised versions of the Sync and MyFord Touch infotainment systems will be simpler and more reliable and says more improvements are coming.

He also says Ford has tightened its quality-control process for developing those systems’ software. That appears aimed at avoiding the glitches that have dogged the new technologies and hurt Ford’s standings in quality and reliability studies.

Told of anecdotal tales of shoppers who want to buy a Ford but won’t if they have to take MyFord Touch, Mulally replied, “I think that when they see the new upgraded versions of it, they might change their mind.”

Early next year, Ford will send owners of vehicles with MyFord Touch or MyLincoln Touch a flash drive that they can use to install an upgrade without going to a dealership.

In a wide-ranging interview with Automotive News, Mulally also said:

– He sees “continuing expansion” for the U.S. economy through the rest of this year and next. He declined to predict auto sales, “until we get through the fourth quarter.”

Europe, on the other hand, has “a lot of uncertainty” in its outlook, Mulally said. He predicted “zero to slightly improving” economic growth there next year, with results “very mixed among the countries.”

– The recently signed UAW contract will make Ford “fully competitive” with transplant factories over the four-year term of the contract, “because the gap will just continue to close.”

“We are now continuing to invest” in U.S. factories and jobs, he said. “This has reversed many years of getting smaller and smaller.”

But he disagreed with recent comments by Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne that the UAW contract’s two-tier wage structure is not viable over the long run.

In defense of the two-tier wages, Mulally said: “I think the agreement that we have with the UAW and the employees has enabled us to be competitive, and I think it’s good.”

Mulally praised Sync, MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch and said that Ford won’t slow its plans to install the systems in its vehicles.

The company plans to make the systems standard on future Lincolns, and to include them on 80 percent of the Ford-brand lineup by 2014, in some cases as standard equipment.

“We haven’t changed anything about our strategy on introducing it,” Mulally said.

A driver can use Sync and MyFord Touch to operate the audio, temperature and other controls and place cell phone calls by means of either an 8-inch touch screen in the center console or voice commands.

Mulally strongly defended the systems, saying they enhance safety by keeping drivers’ “hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.” He said many consumers are fans of the systems.

For consumers, those technologies are “a reason to buy,” Mulally said. “With 50 percent of the people, it’s part of the decision to purchase a car. Seventy percent of the people that use Sync and MyFord recommend it to their friends.”

But Mulally conceded that Ford “got feedback early” from consumers “very clearly that in some areas maybe it was a little too sophisticated with maybe a little too many options.”

“We have most of the issues identified, we have fixes in place and we’ve already started” installing those fixes, he said, adding that more improvements will follow.

He compared Ford’s response to that feedback to the ways consumer-technology companies improve electronic goods.

“Are there things that we learned from that? Absolutely. That’s what a technology company has got to be really good at, too,” he said: Introduce the technology, “but also stay real close to customers and continually improve it.”

The negative feedback has gone beyond individual consumers complaining to dealers.

In January, Consumer Reports magazine said it won’t recommend the 2011 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers because of low test scores — mainly the result of MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch technology.

The magazine called the technology “a complicated distraction while driving.” It said “first-time users might find it impossible to comprehend. The system did not always perform as promised.”

In a J.D. Power and Associates survey released in June that tracks problems reported during the first 90 days of ownership, the Ford brand fared worse than the industry average for the first time since the 2006 model year.

Power said the main problems were MyFord Touch and fuel-saving six-speed automatic transmissions that seem to hesitate in an unfamiliar way when drivers shift gears or accelerate.

Following the latest Fiesta and imminent new Focus, the Mondeo will be a global car, with minor changes being made to suit individual markets around the world. It will also be built in a number of different countries, although design and engineering is taking place at Ford’s HQ in the US for the first time.

As our pictures show, the family resemblance to the new Focus is instantly apparent in the bold front, which features a much larger lower grille, swept-back headlights and pronounced ridges in the bonnet. At the rear, large chrome exhausts integrated into the bumper and a subtle bootlid spoiler hint at the Mondeo’s sporting potential. A chunky shoulder line with muscular wheelarches completes the purposeful appearance.

Inside will be Ford’s most luxurious interior ever, as the car attempts to move closer to upmarket rivals from Audi, BMW and Mercedes. The firm’s SYNC system allows drivers to control virtually any portable media device through steering wheel buttons or voice recognition technology.

In addition, the Mondeo will offer lane departure and blind spot warning systems, as well as a rear view camera. A clever Driver Alert set-up uses cameras to recognise when the owner is falling asleep at the wheel, and sounds a warning. Under the skin will be a modified version of the existing model’s front-wheel-drive platform. For the first time, the Mondeo will use a torque vectoring system, from the Focus. It will also get a new electric power-steering set-up and dynamic cornering control – all of which should boost driver involvement and improve refinement.

Power will come from Ford’s 1.6 and 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol turbo engines. In the current car, the latter produces 200bhp and returns 36mpg combined, while the 1.6 – found in the new C-MAX – will offer 150bhp and 180bhp outputs. Also available will be a range of 2.0 TDCi diesel models, with 112bhp, 137bhp or 163bhp.

A raft of eco tweaks on all models will improve economy and cut emissions. This includes regenerative braking, stop/start and an active grille system, which regulates air flow through the radiator and engine compartment to reduce drag. A concept version of the Mondeo will debut next year, after the Focus launches in January. But the bigger car is still three years away from dealers.

The boss is back – and it’s back with a vengeance. Meet the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 – said to be the quickest, best-handling straight-production Mustang ever offered by Ford, based on the strong foundation provided by the 2011 Mustang GT. The model has been upgraded in nearly every aspect including engine output, brakes, suspension, interior and exterior all examined to optimize weight, aerodynamics and track performance.

Ford isn’t afraid of looking forwards! The Paris Motor Show is on the horizon, but reports have emerged that the Blue Oval is readying two new models which will debut at next year’s Swiss expo.

While this year’s Paris event will see the debut of the European-spec new Focus in full production trim, including a hot ST model, next year’s Geneva event will see for pull the wraps off its tweaked Fiesta.

Styling changes are set to be minimal, with the car gaining revised bumpers and striking LED daytime running lights which follow the design of the revised S-MAX and Mondeo which have also been unveiled this year.

Under the bonnet, the car will debut the latest of Ford’s impressive direct injection, turbocharged EcoBoost engine range. The Fiesta will get the 90bhp three-cylinder 1.0-litre unit that debuted in the Start concept car which was shown in China earlier this year. Ford is still considering a performance version, powered by the 1.6-litre EcoBoost unit too.

But the most striking model to bow next March will be the replacement for the Fusion. Set to be called B-MAX, the Fiesta-based small MPV will be shown in concept form, and is set to take on the Honda Jazz and the car we voted our supermini MPV of the year, the Kia Venga.

The design will be more conservative than the Fiesta, featuring a toned-down five-door body and interior that will appeal to buyers who like the current Fusion’s simple, functional aesthetic. However, the newcomer will major on practicality, getting a Jazz-rivalling seating layout.

Mustang is launching a new 427R powered by a 4.3L V8 in its 2010 model.

Roush’s new 427R 2010 Mustang is powered by a 4.3L V8 that has been supercharged to produce 435-hp. Not bad seeing as it allows you to do 0 to 60 mph in the low 4-second range. But what if you feel that isn’t enough horsepower for you to put the all the other pony cars on the road to rest.

Well, Roush today introduced something called the 2010 Roush Stage 3 Mustang, which uses the same engine from the 2009 Roush P-51B Mustang. However, with a couple of modifications, including the next-generation R2300 ROUSHcharger, the engine now produces 540-hp with a peak torque of 510 lb-ft.

Suggested retail price for the 2010 Roush Stage 3 Mustang comes in at $59,945. Roush will produce a limited 103 units of the Stage 3 Mustang so you better hurry if you want one.

However, if you don’t want to pay all that money and don’t really care about 18-inch wheels and a body kit, Roush is also offering the 540RH which it says is “intended to be a ’sleeper’ car.” It gets the same 540-hp along with a new suspension package, front and rear springs, front and rear stabilizer bars and jounce bumpers – all starting at $46,145.

The second Mustang unveiled with the 540 horsepower powerplant is the new 2010 ROUSH 540RH™, a limited content, full powertrain vehicle. Also known as the Hammer®, this car comes armed with massive horsepower, a ROUSH rear decklid spoiler, and short throw shifter with a choice of white or black ball, the 540RH is a stoplight slayer.

Proving just how quick this car can be on the optional 18-inch Cooper RS3 tires, ROUSH engineers recorded an 11.8-second elapsed time at 121 mph during testing at Milan (Mich.) Dragway in early September.

Ford of Europe has just dropped the first official images of the new Ford C-Max. Right away you’ll notice that the new C-MAX takes design cues from the iosis MAX concept car seen in Geneva earlier this year.

Based on Ford’s new global C-segment platform that will underpin the next-generation Focus, the C-MAX comfortably seats five and competes in the compact multi-activity vehicle market.

Power will come from a 1.6L 4-cylinder Ford EcoBoost direct injection petrol engine, the first application of its kind. Ford did not reveal any output or performance figures but the 4-cylinder EcoBoost originally made its debut in the Lincoln C Concept pumping out 180-hp.

Sales in Europe will begin in the second half of 2010. No word on when the 2010 C-MAX will cross the Atlantic.

FoMoCo is all about going global and going small – the same applies for its luxury brand Lincoln. With the Navigator selling poorly, Lincoln is now considering vehicles as small as the Ford Focus and a compact crossover due out in 2011. The two would be the smallest Lincoln models in the brands current lineup and unless a coupe based on the Ford Mustang materializes, Lincoln will walk away from the rear-wheel-drive segment when the Town Car dies in 2011.

As of right now, most of Lincoln’s development team is focused on a compact car based on the next-generation global Ford Focus platform. While product chief Derrick Kuzak says that Lincoln has room in its lineup for a front-wheel-drive compact car, such a car is far from being green-lighted by executives, reports Automotive News.

Lincoln unveiled the Concept C at the 2009 Detroit Motor Show with a 1.6L EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine under the hood. It was the first time we’ve seen anything official from Ford regarding a 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine.

Just as Volkswagen has done with the stunning Scirocco, Ford is seeking to reinvent one of its most famous sports cars. And it’s this dramatic evolution of the next Focus that will do it.

Boasting a stylish but practical body, it will target the Scirocco and the Renault Mégane Coupé, providing a glamorous sister car to the standard five-door hatch – revealed in Issue 1,057. Appealing to young, style-conscious buyers, the new Coupé should be a big hit.

As you can see from our exclusive pictures, it takes some inspiration from the Iosis Max concept, revealed at March’s Geneva Motor Show.

That car debuted the new family ‘face’ of not only the new Focus, but the next-generation C-MAX, too. However, the three-door model evolves this with sleeker, sportier LED headlights and a deeper, more aggressive set of lower air intakes.

The key design cues, though, are the rakish windscreen, low roofline and high waistline, which meet to give a heavily chopped appearance at the back. It’s reminiscent of the Scirocco, but is arguably more daring and head-turning. A neat diffuser-style lower bumper, roof spoiler and gorgeous LED tail-lights complete the rear. Add in short overhangs and large alloy wheels, and the model looks every inch the
chic compact sports car.

And because that roofline doesn’t slope down too steeply, the Coupé will be practical, too, with plenty of headroom for rear passengers and a decent sized boot. Options such as a panoramic glass roof, to further increase the feeling of light and space inside, are anticipated.

In the front, a similar cabin to the five-door is expected, with a new centre console offering an improved version of Ford’s Human Machine Interface system. The finish will have a premium feel, with options including a reversing camera.

To match its storming looks, the car will be fitted with a class-leading chassis. And this promises even more agility and grip than the five-door, without sacrificing ride comfort or refinement.

There’ll be even more reason to smile when buyers see the engine range. New turbocharged EcoBoost powerplants will be available, with most cars getting a 1.6-litre petrol, producing 148bhp or 178bhp.

A new 1.6 TDCi diesel will also debut, giving up to 128bhp, alongside a flagship 2.0-litre with 168bhp or 197bhp. All these units will combine pace with superb fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. And helping the Focus Coupé to be even more efficient will be the option of a Powershift twin-clutch gearbox. This will be offered in addition to a standard-fit manual transmission. Stop-start technology is also expected to be rolled out across the line-up.

Of course, there will be a high-performance range-topper, but it’s unlikely to be powered by the much-loved 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo engine from the Focus ST and RS. This is deemed too thirsty, and will be replaced by a 2.0-litre, 200bhp EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo.

The new Focus range debuts alongside the C-MAX MPV at a major motor show next year.

Charles, one of our eagle-eyed readers, came across this page on the Hennessey website announcing plans to offer upgrades for the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO.

A quick email and a subsequent phone call from Mr. Hennessey himself confirmed that the power-obsessed tuner is hoping to exploit the new SHO’s potential later this year.

John, a former first-gen SHO owner himself, was impressed with the new SHO’s specs when it was revealed last week, and the hope is that enthusiasts will start looking for modifications once sales begin later this year. At the onset, expect intake and exhaust mods, followed by a boost controller, turbo and intercooler upgrades and possibly some suspension tweaks.

Since Ford is primarily marketing its line of EcoBoost engines towards fuel-conscious consumers, there’s little doubt that the automaker left something on the table. We’re sure tuners are ready to take up the challenge, and it looks like John and his team will be at the forefront.

There is word that Ford wants to bring the people-hauling C-Max as part of its agenda to bring C-segment crossovers from Europe to the US.

The current C-Max would probably be sufficient for US duty in terms of size and performance, but with America’s different legislative standards, if we get the Euro crossover Stateside it will likely arrive with the next redesign.

The next C-Max is already on its way toward production, as evidenced by spy photos taken of a couple next-generation mules dredging through the snow. The C-Max mule is clothed in yesterday’s duds, but a wider than usual b-pillar shows that the Euro crossover is going to get bigger. The extra four or five inches of interior volume could make room for a third row of seats, or Ford could simply be angling for extra cargo capacity. Either way, a new C-Max is en-route. And thanks to Ford’s future ability to build Focus-sized vehicles in Louisville beginning in 2010, it could be built here in the States. We can hope.

A press release was released this morning after Ford revealed the 2010 Taurus this morning at the Detroit Auto Show, showing the full pricing information by model.

As we mentioned earlier, the base price of Ford’s new flagship sedan in SE trim is the same $25,995 as the 2009 model. For those looking for more toys in their car, Ford is still offering the SEL and Limited models at $27,995 and $31,995 respectively. The two upper trim levels can be had with paddle shifters for the 6-speed automatic, a first for the Taurus. We’ll probably have to wait until closer to launch to find out how much goodies such as the cross traffic warning system, adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation will cost. The other big unknown remains the cost of the EcoBoost 3.5L V6 and its 350 hp. That’s a Taurus we can’t wait to try.

The Ford Focus RS hatchback already has orders. Coming in Electric Green, Electric Blue and Frozen White, it seems the green made a hit with those that saw it at the 2008 Paris Motor Show.

So far Ford has about 1,500 orders for the new 2009 Ford Focus RS and about 40 percent of those customers asked that their extreme Ford hatchback be delivered to them in the screaming Electric-Green color that was shown at the 2008 Paris Motor Show.

The 2009 Focus RS is also available in two other colors including Frozen White and Electric Blue (the color you see here).

Powered by a 2.5L 5-Cylinder Duratec engine that produces 296-hp with a maximum torque of 221 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 60 mph comes in under 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

Despite Ford Motor Company’s silence about the 2010 Ford Taurus, many renderings and spied photographs have been received. There has been no comment about a Detroit unveiling, however a new styling will be revealed.

Even though Ford hasn’t admitted it, we all know what’s coming to Detroit. The 2010 Ford Taurus that’s been spied and rendered is on its way, and although FoMoCo’s design director, J Mays, won’t go on the record as saying that the new Taurus will be unveiled in Motor City, he did say the automaker will show off the next iteration of its global styling theme this January.

Ford’s North American and European design teams have been working together for the last two years on the successor to the automaker’s “kinetic” design language that made its production debut with the Mondeo and continued with the Fiesta and Kuga. Mays calls the new theme “post-kinetic” and says it will “have the best attributes of kinetic, but … is going to be possibly a little more simple, a little more elegant.” The rendering above – “inspired” by a singular spy shot and created by Joshua Byrnes – is a good indication of what’s to come, and if that’s what Mays means my “simple” and elegant,” we’re sold.

A new Ford concept was revealed at the Thailand Motor Expo inspired by the Ford Ranger and power tools.

At the Thailand Motor Expo this week, Ford’s rolling out a show truck based on the locally-produced Ford Ranger. Dubbed the Ranger Max, it’s a styling exercise designed to infuse the compact pickup with some visual muscle and toughness.

According to Ford, power tools were among the inspirations for the project, hence the blend of matte accents and this OSHA-friendly orange paint job. Anyway, it’s pretty cool, what with the embossed “RANGER” logos on the grille and tailgate; vented, domed hood; chunky wheel/tire package; flared fenders and integrated step rails. If Ford were to (finally) replace the U.S.-market Ranger with something incorporating the main cues from this (especially the overall grille/front-end treatment), you wouldn’t hear a peep of complaint from us — we’d be too busy listening to “One Night in Bangkok” on the stereo while we cruised down that street from the Ford Flex ads.

Just four weeks until the 2010 Ford Mustang is unveiled at the LA Auto Show, We now have just four weeks until the 2010 Ford Mustang is completely unveiled at the LA Auto Show, everyone impatiently waits as Ford continues to tease with a newly released photo showing only a portion of the hood. The image confirms the cowl design shown by the spied 2010 Mustang hood we reported on earlier in the year.

There’s still no official word on whether the new hood design is functional or just for looks, but we did notice that Ford tagged the image file as “powerdome”. Perhaps just a name, but we’re hoping it’s a sign that Ford has given its pony car a boost in power that won’t leave Mustang owners too jealous of the Camaro’s 400 horsepower.

Thanks to Ford Motor Company, parents can now keep teen drivers in check when they borrow the car.

MyKey, a car key with a chip, can be programmed to curtail the top speed of its user to 80 mph.

The MyKey will come standard with the 2010 Focus coupe and eventually will be available on other Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models, according to Ford.

In addition to implementing a speed limit, the key can be used to limit the volume of the car stereo system and emit a chime for six seconds every five minutes until the driver puts on a seatbelt.

MyKey can also be programmed to chime once each time the car reaches 45 mph, 55 mph, and 65 mph to alert young drivers about their acceleration.

Another feature, useful to anyone who fails to notice when the fuel light goes on, chimes when the car is 75 miles from empty. (The light on a Ford usually goes on at 50 miles to empty)
