When we saw the Kia No 3 concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March, it was largely agreed that in spite of its unimaginative name, it appeared to be a pretty decent little vehicle. At the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show Kia plans to debut the latest version of the cee’d hatchback, it’s most popular model in Europe. As you’d expect, the new cee’d is bestowed with the latest version of the Korean automaker’s front grille and fascia, which joins restyled headlamps, tail lamps and bumpers to complete the exterior refresh. Inside, a new steering wheel, gear shift lever and red interior lighting are the main updates. (more…)

This past April at the Seoul Motor Show, Kia showed off the KND-5 concept, the Korean automaker’s vision for its next-generation “near luxury” model. Based on the front-wheel drive platform shared with the Hyundai Azera, the car is known internally as VG and is slated to go on sale in Korea later this year. Even better, the sedan should make it Stateside in early 2010 after making its American debut at next year’s Detroit Auto Show. Expect a range of engines, possibly including Kia’s 2.4-liter direct-injected four and 3.8-liter Lambda V6. (more…)

Kia released another teaser image today of next week’s Detroit concept unveiling at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. According to Kia, the concept will show “more than just a re-packaging treatment” demonstrating the flexibility of the original Soul compact.

So far rumor has it that it will be a coup version of the Soul but there is also some speculation that Kia may show a hybrid version of the Soul. From the new teaser image we can see that the concept will carry the “Soulster” badge.

The new 2010 Kia Soul will go on sale in April of 2009.

Kia launched the concept for the KOUP, a two-door handsome design with 2.0-liter Theta II turbocharged engine. The overall concept proves Kia is stylistically moving forward.

We were able to get a sneak peak of Kia’s newest concept last night, but the wraps finally came off the KOUP at 9:40AM this morning, and the concept offers a design study that will most certainly influence the automaker’s future offerings. The KOUP is a cab-forward two-door in a similar vein as the Honda Civic, but fortunately or unfortunately, that’s not where the similarities end.
