Ever since the beginning of time, Lamborghini has been known as the all-wheel-drive, go hard, supercar. In 2009, the company released the new Gallardo with all-wheel-drive, then later created a ‘Balboni’ limited-edition with rear-wheel drive for those that like power sent to the back (along with Balboni, Lambo’s test driver himself).

According to recent reports, Lamborghini will now offer the same to Gallardo Spyder lovers that desire some rear-wheel-drive fun as well.

The Gallardo Spyder is badged as the LP560-4 so we can expect the rear-wheel-drive version to be called LP550-2 Spyder. With that badging we’re guessing that power from the 5.4 liter V10 will be turned down by 10 horses – however, the model should be slightly lighter than the all-wheel-drive drop top.

Lamborghini’s ‘LP550-2′ should also come with a slightly smaller price tag, dropping about $14,000 off the starting price.

Feast your eyes – Lamborghini has grabbed the bull by the horns and come up with a sensational successor to the Murciélago! And Auto Express has exclusive news about the flagship supercar.

Styled in-house at the firm’s headquarters in Sant’Agata, Italy, it’s the first production model to be penned by design and brand director Manfred Fitzgerald.

It borrows heavily from Lamborghini’s fighter jet-inspired Reventón, and features clean, crisp surfaces, trademark aggressive air intakes and sharply sculpted all-LED lights.

It also gets an active rear wing to improve aerodynamic stability.

But the big news is under the skin. Thanks to Lambo’s latest joint venture the new car will get a carbon fibre chassis, so it tips the scales at less than 1,500kg, down from the outgoing model’s heftier 1,665kg.

Reduced weight and improved aerodynamics are only part of the story, though. A new 7.0-litre V12 engine will produce in excess of 700bhp and 700Nm of torque.

However, fuel economy will also increase to around 23mpg and CO2 will fall from 495g/km to roughly 425g/km, thanks to a clever cylinder deactivation system, which operates under light loads. Top speed will be in the region of 220mph and the 0-62mph time falls from 3.4 to 3.0 seconds, as a result of a new launch control system.

Lamborghini isn’t a fan of the twin-clutch DSG-style gearbox. So, instead, a seven-speed, paddleshift automated manual gearbox will help direct power to the four-wheel-drive system.

Despite the weight savings that could be had by returning to a rear-drive layout, Lamborghini confirms that the car will be all-wheel-drive. However, it will be optimised to reduce friction, and feature parent firm Audi’s torque vectoring system for even better handling.

Inside, the new design means the Murciélago’s offset driving position will be consigned to the history books. Trademark scissor doors will remain, the cabin will be trimmed in carbon and Alcantara, while luxuries will include a hi-tech sat-nav and a jet-style head-up display. The new Lambo will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October and will cost in excess of £300,000.

The main theory behind the concept car? Lighter weight and less horsepower. Apparently there gets a point where you can’t add anymore horsepower to your vehicle, so to increase performance and reduce emissions, dropping some weight seems to be a great combo and a philosophy that Lamborghini will apply to future vehicles.

“The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento shows how the future of the super sports car can look – extreme lightweight engineering, combined with extreme performance results in extreme driving fun. We put all of our technological competence into one stunning form to create the Sesto Elemento,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automili Lamborghini. “It is our abilities in carbon-fiber technology that have facilitated such a forward-thinking concept, and we of course also benefit from the undisputed lightweight expertise of Audi AG. Systematic lightweight engineering is crucial for future super sports cars: for the most dynamic performance, as well as for low emissions. We will apply this technological advantage right across our model range. Every future Lamborghini will be touched by the spirit of the Sesto Elemento.”

That allows it to have a power-to-weight ratio of only 1.75 kilograms per hp and a 0-62 mph time of just 2.5 seconds.

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 1st March 2010 – Even more dynamic, lighter, more powerful and stunning – the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is the new top model in the Gallardo line-up. Its evocative “superlight” badge refers to a driving machine of true sporting character and describes a high-performance and lean automotive athlete. The Superleggera makes its entrance to continue the success of its predecessor, launched in 2007, of which Lamborghini produced and sold no less than 618 in just one year.

Compared with the already lean Gallardo LP 560-4, the weight of the Gallardo Superleggera has been trimmed by 70 kilograms (154 lb). The super sportscar from Sant’Agata Bolognese boasts a dry weight of no more than 1340 kilograms (2954 lb) – the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini’s range, and a new arrival in one of the most exclusive market niche segments.

One key factor is the exterior and interior components made from carbon-fiber. Carbon-fiber is ideal for the manufacture of sportscars as its use allows for weight reduction and improved mechanical features. The car’s performance is thus enhanced thanks to a better weight-to-power ratio and reduced total mass, which means that CO2 emissions are also lower. Lamborghini has been at the forefront in this material’s application for many years, and now the brand is extending its leadership even further.

The V10 power unit with 5.2 liters (317,6 cu in) of displacement generates 419 kW (570 CV*) in the Gallardo Superleggera. This puts the weight-to-power ratio of the new top model at only 2.35 kilograms (5.18 lb) per CV and guarantees breathtaking performance. The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera handles the dash from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and flies past the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark only 10.2 seconds later, ultimately reaching 325 km/h (202 mph). The engine with “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” gasoline direct injection also boasts an impressive degree of efficiency. Its fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 20,5 percent compared to the previous model.

The Gallardo Superleggera is an uncompromising driving machine. Its running gear, with its mighty braking system, has a dedicated and exceptionally precise set-up, while its 19-inch wheels, Pirelli P Zero Corsa, clad in Pirelli sports rubber, are extremely light. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera brings a whole new meaning to the term “super sportscar”.
Design and aerodynamics
The beauty of power

The elegance of every Lamborghini rests on both its extreme power and precise functionality. The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera’s bodyshell is sculptured and completely free from stylistic additions. Dimensions define the contours of a dynamic wedge – 4.39 meters (172,7 in) long, 1.90 meters (74,8 in) wide, but only 1.17 meters (45,9 in) high.
Exterior modifications are all directed at increasing aerodynamic effects. Working closely with wind tunnel experts, the designers from Lamborghini’s Centro Stile remodeled the front bumper – three-dimensional, deeply recessed elements form trapezoidal frames for the large air intakes. Together with the V-shaped, sharply defined nose and the LED daytime running lights, the black elements give the front end a razor-sharp look, reminiscent of Lamborghini’s top model. The new design increases the supply of cooling air and improves the downforce on the front axle.
The modifications to the fully-covered underbody, which include new sill elements and a redesigned diffuser incorporating four large tailpipes, help to achieve better aerodynamic results. The Gallardo Superleggera sports a small rear spoiler as standard. A big rear spoiler is available as an option.
The bodyshell
Intelligent lightweight engineering
The model on which the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is based, the Gallardo LP 560-4, is already a prime example of Lamborghini’s lightweight engineering philosophy, with its dry weight of 1410 kilograms (3108.5 lb). Its bodyshell is made from aluminum, with moulded node elements and extruded parts forming an extremely stiff framework into which the aluminum panels are integrated. The spaceframe structure is impact-resistant and forms the basis for the super sportscar’s precise handling.
Against this background, the task of reducing the weight by a further 70 kilograms (154 lb) presented a huge challenge to Lamborghini engineers – the target figure, a weight-to-power ratio of 2.35 kilograms (5.18 lb) per CV, sets a new best among the competition. Lamborghini engineers handled the task as they usually do – with hi-tech competence and aesthetic flair.
The rear windshield and side windows are made from robust and resistant polycarbonate. The engine cover also includes a polycarbonate window, beneath which the V10 engine is displayed like a technical work of art. The long cover section runs from the roof to the rear of the vehicle and is made from carbon-fiber. Engineers also selected carbon-fiber for the rear spoiler, sills, diffuser, parts of the underbody paneling and the fine exterior mirror casings.
With its minimal weight and extremely high rigidity, carbon-fiber is the ideal material for a super sportscar. As far back as the 1980s, Lamborghini was already gathering experience in this field with the Countach. Today, some parts of the Murciélago’s structure are made from carbon-fiber. In order to secure this leading position even further, the brand from Sant’Agata Bolognese established a center of excellence for carbon-fiber materials, where specialists are developing components, working with efficient manufacturing technologies.
Lamborghini’s carbon-fiber strategy is further proven by its foundation of the “Automobili Lamborghini Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory” (ACSL) at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. Lamborghini provides support to the facility and its long-term, co-operative research work in the fields of aeronautics and astronautics, together with the composite materials’ application within the automotive sector. Alongside the University of Washington, aircraft company Boeing is also among Lamborghini’s partners.
The aircraft manufacturer commands enormous expertise in the field of composite materials. With the new Type 787 Dreamliner, Boeing has developed the world’s first commercial aircraft built entirely from carbon-fibre. Thanks to its superior characteristics, it consumes around 20 percent less fuel than a conventional aeroplane.
The interior and the use of carbon-fiber
Altogether, carbon-fiber components make up 40 (88 lb) of the 70 kilograms (154 lb) saved on the Gallardo Superleggera. In the interior, too, engineers aimed to reduce weight as much as possible. The center tunnel cover, the door panels and the surround of the e-gear automated manual transmission lever are made from carbon-fiber. The high-end material is also used for the sports seats’ shells. They make a significant contribution to the overall weight reduction.
Just like the rest of the cockpit, the sports seats are clad in lightweight Alcantara instead of leather. At Lamborghini, weight reduction is in no way synonymous with sacrifice – the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is still equipped with air conditioning and electric powered windows as standard.
Lamborghini has built on this strength – the interior is crafted with passionate attention to the tiniest detail; high quality materials indulge both visually and sensually.
The interior, including roof and mats, retains the Lamborghini Gallardo’s black finish. As a contrasting color for elements such as seat trims and stitching, customers can choose among green, yellow, orange and two shades of gray. They match exterior paint finishes in Verde Ithaca, Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Nero Noctis and Bianco Monocerus.
The engine
10.2 seconds from zero to 200 km/h
In the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, LP stands for “longitudinale posteriore” and refers to the orientation of the V10 engine – which is mounted longitudinally behind the driver, just like every Lamborghini engine. The number 570 refers to the maximum power output in CV, which equates to 419 kW and is available at 8,000 rpm. Equally impressive is the pulling power – the torque curve peaks at 540 Nm (398,3 ft lbs) at 6,500 rpm. The increase of 7 kW (10 CV) is the result of the new dedicated engine management strategy.
The V10 has a displacement of 5204 cm3 and achieves a specific output of 80.5 kW (109.6 CV) per liter. Special features on this long-stroke engine with an aluminum crankcase include dry sump lubrication and a cylinder
angle of 90 degrees. Both solutions lower the center of gravity, thus improving the handling dynamics. To ensure an ideal combustion chamber fill, the engine has an adjustable intake manifold and continuous control of the chain-driven camshafts.
The crankshaft is conceived as a dual-plane crank – the connecting rods of opposing pistons share one bearing. This configuration delivers alternating ignition intervals of 54 and 90 degrees; a unique sequence that is the reason for the compelling, racing car-like sound of the V10. As the revs rise, resounding bass notes are overlaid with razor sharp harmonics.
The powerful V10, combined with the model’s weight reduction, gives the Gallardo Superleggera LP 570-4 breathtaking performance. The car accelerates zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 3,4 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 10,2 seconds – then continues relentlessly to its top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph).
The Gallardo Superleggera is also considerably more efficient – compared with its predecessor, its fuel consumption in the EU driving cycle is reduced by 3,5 liters per 100 kilometer (0,9 gal), or 20,5 percent, to 13,5 liters/100 km (16 mpg). This improvement is partly due to the “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” gasoline direct injection, which injects fuel into the combustion chambers at pressures of up to 100 bar. The tumbling mix cools the combustion chambers, which enables a very high compression ratio of 12.5:1 which, in turn, increases efficiency.
Power transmission
Traction without compromise
The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera comes with the e-gear transmission operated via steering wheel paddles, as standard. The automated system with electronic management shifts through its six gears extremely smoothly and far more quickly than could be achieved by human reflexes.
The e-gear control unit has three operating modes, two of which available in automatic. The “Thrust mode” delivers maximum off-the-line performance and is programmed to manage starting revs of around 5000 rpm with minimal wheel slip.
Every single kilometer in the new Superleggera is utterly thrilling – not least because of the relentless traction in practically every situation. This is
largely attributable to the four driven wheels, as indicated by the number 4 in the model name.
The permanent all-wheel drive integrates a central viscous coupling and a 45 percent limited slip differential on the rear axle. In normal circumstances, the power delivered by the V10 is channeled with a ratio of 30:70 to the front and rear axles. The weight distribution of the superlight Gallardo is 43/57 percent front/rear.
In 1993, the Diablo VT was the first Italian super sportscar with an all-wheel drive set-up, and Lamborghini has been steadily consolidating its leadership ever since. In fact, thanks to the car’s superior traction, Lamborghini drivers can accelerate earlier out of a bend than drivers of rear-wheel drive cars.
The running gear
Even firmer, even more precise
The new Gallardo Superleggera is a highly-concentrated driving machine – it thrills with breathtaking cornering speeds and fast, immediate feedback. Its handling is always precise, stable and predictable.
The running gear layout is derived directly from Lamborghini’s motorsport experience. The suspension is aluminum double wishbones. The precise rack and pinion steering keeps the driver very closely connected with the road. The shock absorbers are extremely firm, and the anti-roll bars and suspension mounts have been further reinforced: these features enable the running gear to reach its full dynamic potential. No other model in the Gallardo range is as close to a race car as this one. The development of the Superleggera was heavily influenced by experiences gained from the world’s fastest single-brand race series, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo.
Another special feature of the Gallardo Superleggera is the wheels. The 19-inch units are aluminum forged and are therefore extremely lightweight – saving 13 kilograms (28.6 lb). The wheel bolts are made from titanium and are also incredibly light and rigid. The tires are 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 295/30 ZR19 at the rear and come from the Pirelli P Zero Corsa series. Developed specifically for the new top model in the Gallardo range, they are closely related to pure race rubber.
Behind the huge wheels are brakes that serve to deliver uncompromising stopping power and are managed by the standard-fit ESP stability control system. The front wheels are served by aluminum eight-piston calipers, with four-piston units at the rear. The ventilated brake discs have a diameter of 365 and 356 millimeters (ø 14.37 x 1.34 in and 14.02 x 1.26 in) respectively. As an optional extra, Lamborghini can fit extremely fade-resistant and lightweight discs made from carbon-fiber ceramic with six pistons at the front. The front ceramic discs have a diameter of 380 millimeters (ø 15 x 1.5 in).
Equipment
Hi-tech for road and track
Alongside its specialized carbon-fiber lightweight components, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is delivered ex-works with an array of other high-end features. Highlights include the e-gear transmission – a manual gearbox is also available at no additional cost – the dedicated set-up, the Pirelli sports tires and the sports seats. Alcantara upholstery and a hand-stitched steering wheel also set the interior ambiance.
The range of special equipment is particularly sporty. It includes carbon-fiber ceramic brake discs, four-point seat belts, fire extinguisher and a steel roll cage. Visual impact can be further increased by a rear spoiler and the engine bay for the engine compartment – both from carbon-fiber – as well as colored brake calipers.
For the interior, Lamborghini offers special floor mats and leather steering wheels, a storage package and an alarm system. An additional carbon-fiber package includes center console and instrument panel trim, the parking brake handle, parts of the steering wheel and the door handles. A LED light package illuminates the engine compartment, the interior, and the entry area.
Additional features of special equipment increase comfort, such as the multimedia navigation system, the lifting system which raises the front of the car to enable driving over obstacles, a remote control for opening garage doors and a rear view camera mounted beneath the rear spoiler. Customers who want to personalize their Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, can use Lamborghini’s wide-ranging options of the “Ad Personam” individualization program.

What started off as a limited edition car ended up as 1/1 in the world! All the LP650-4 cars came one way from Lamborghini with Grigio Telesto grey exterior paint and Arancio Leonis orange highlights. The owner of this car wanted the car matte black with gloss black highlights. This is how the transformation to become an AE Edition car began.

The car was transported by NTT (Norwalk Tow & Transport) to Avio Coach Craft to have the paint work done. The car was striped down to the metal and the complete interior was removed so that a proper complete paint make over could be achieved.

After the paint was completed the car was transported again by NTT to Giovanna Wheels to have the custom made 19” GFG 3-piece forged Narkid wheels and Pirelli tires installed. The wheels were painted with a gloss black outer lip, matte black center and orange highlights to perfectly match the brake calipers. Pirelli P-Zero 245/30/19 front and 355/25/19 rear tires were used to insure a safe and overall perfect fitment for this car.

From Giovanna NTT transported the car to Al & Eds Autosound in West Hollywood, CA for a custom one of a kind audiophile sound system. The factory speakers were replaced with Focal Utopia KIT 7 component 3-way speakers. These are the most expensive and best sounding speakers in the world! Keeping with the orange interior highlight theme we did not use the provided Focal speaker grilles but rather created new ones from orange carbon fiber and plexi glass.

These pictures give us the best look yet at how the raging bull of the future will shape up – and it’s set to eclipse the existing Murciélago in every way.

The car has yet to be given a name, but it’s expected to combine Lamborghini owner Audi’s aluminium spaceframe chassis with a carbon fibre bodyshell.

That will make it much lighter than the Murciélago it replaces – and guarantees stunning performance to go with the incredible looks.

Up front is a pronounced spoiler and fresh headlamps – but designers have reserved the biggest changes for the rear. They have moved the Murciélago’s trademark angular exhaust closer to the ground, while new strip-like LED tail-lights replace the current square units.

Power is expected to come from a 6.0-litre V12 with around 700bhp – that would propel the car from 0-60mph in just over three seconds.

The new Lambo will also be wider and longer, while four-wheel drive ensures it’s firmly planted on the road.

Preliminary prototypes have been spied near Germany’s Nürburgring track, but the car is unlikely to arrive before 2012.

The newcomer will also pave the way for future generations of hybrid Lambos.

It will be the brand’s first car to use efficient technologies such as stop-start and energy regeneration, and is a major step towards bosses’ plans to deliver the first-ever Lamborghini hybrid by 2015

Rumors are trickling in that Lamborghini has revealed its new highly-exclusive Lamborghini Reventon Roadster to some select clients. The Roadster is expected to make its official appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009.

The news has not been confirmed by Lamborghini. In fact, there is yet no official confirmation that there would be a Reventon Roadster, but everyone and his dog believes there would be very soon, and we are going with that here!

The Lamborghini Reventon Roadster supercar will primarily be based on the Lamborghini LP650-4 Roadster and inherit the bodywork of the Lamborghini Reventon. Here is a rendering of the Roadster from the GlobalMotors.

The highly exclusive Lamborgini Reventon is based on the Murcielago, the original carbon fiber Reventon. Only 20 units of the S1-million Lamborghini Reventon have been produced giving it an almost limited edition status. Some reports say that the Lambo Reventon Roadster will have only 9 units ever produced, and each would cost around US $ 1.6 million! If there is something that can be more exclusive than the Reventon, it would be the Reventon Roadster for sure!

The Lamborghini Reventon was designed in Sant’Agata Bolognese, in Lamborghini’s Centro Stile along with the Lamborghini Research and Development Department.

Some reports suggest that since Lamborghini may find it difficult to pack the Lamborghini Reventon’s power in a Roadster body, it may inherit the engine from the Lamborghini LP650-4 Roadster.

It is not clear whether the extremely powerful Lamborghini Reventon Roadster will have the same engine as the Lamborghini LP670-4SV.

Earlier efforts to produce a roadster version of the car Lamborghini LP670-4SV were dropped due to problems with engine placement.

Rumors say that the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster will feature the 6496 cc 60 degree 670 hp V12 engine. With a top speed of 200 mph the car is rumored to reach 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Although all these specifications are speculative, it is generally expected that the Lamorghini Reventon Roadster will be built on the Lamborghini Murciélago LP650-4 Roadster platform and will have the bodywork of the Lamborghini Reventon.

Obviously, at this time, there are no Reventon Roadster photos available. What we have here is a rendering of the Roadster showing what it would look like. For a proper photo gallery, you will have to wait for our exclusive coverage of the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009.

Just four short months ago a rumor surfaced that Lamborghini would be making a topless version of its hottest model, the F22-inspired Reventon. Word is that today Lambo is showing off it’s most expensive ever ragin’ bull to a super select cabal of people so wealthy that we’ll never understand. Based on the Murcielago, the original carbon fiber Reventon was limited to 20 units (plus one for the museum) and cost just about $1 million. And therein lies the problem. As a Reventon owner, you have a 19 out of 6.5 billion chance of running into another person driving the same car as you — not exclusive enough.

This is where the new drop top Rev comes in. Limited to just nine examples makes the new Lambo more than twice as exclusive. As its price will climb to $1.6 million, it had better be. Besides losing the roof, the Reventon Roadster will be more powerful than its hard-top cousins, as the convertible will get the LP670-4 SV’s stonking 6.5-liter V12 good for 670 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque. You know, we could get used to this whole filthy rich thing.

Dear Valued Partners,

As announced at the US Dealer Meeting in Las Vegas last April, we are pleased to introduce
an exclusive and special new product from Lamborghini: The Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino
Balboni.

This limited edition (only 250 will be made) two-wheel drive model commemorates the
amazing career of former Chief Test Driver Valentino Balboni. Hired personally by Ferrucio
Lamborghini in 1967, Balboni has been providing expert feedback during the development of
the cars to allow the engineers to create best-in-class super sports cars for the past four
decades. With his fine-tuning and testing work, he has helped to shape many automotive
legends — from the Lamborghini Miura of the 1960s through to the current Gallardo and
Murciélago models.

The car will be presented for the first time in the US at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering
on August 14 in Carmel, CA with Valentino Balboni and Stephan Winkelmann in attendance
to celebrate this special occasion.

The Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni will only be produced for MY10 and will be
available in the U.S. market in September 2009. We will send you further communications
regarding the details of this limited edition as well as the promotional activities planned for
this vehicle in the coming weeks.

I would also like to take the opportunity to announce the US Sales Training for the Gallardo
LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni. At this time we plan to have the training the first week in
August in Los Angeles but will send you a formal invite by early July with details and an
agenda for your sales team.

We look forward to your support behind this great addition to our current line-up and are at
your disposable for any further questions.

Kindest Regards,
Pietro Frigerio
Chief Operating Officer

Latest information indicates the car will pick up the ‘LP 670-4’ designation, suggesting it will output 670hp (500kW) and retain an AWD system. Full details aren’t expected until a scheduled world debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Like previous SV models as well as the more recent Gallardo Superleggera, engineers will focus on three main areas: interior, exterior and mechanicals. The interior will be stripped out and replaced with carbon-fiber, including the door innards, seats and center console. The end of result of which should see the LP 670-4 weigh in 220lb (100kg) less than the stock Murcielago.

Changes to the Murcielago’s exterior will be just as dramatic, with an aggressive carbon-fiber GT wing replacing the current automatic spoilers and new lightweight forged alloy wheels with carbon-ceramic brake rotors also tipped to make the cut.

E-gear will be standard, although it will be upgraded for faster shift times, and many of the stock aluminum components will be replaced with lighter magnesium pieces. Shift times are expected to drop from the current 0.4 seconds to around 0.2 seconds.

The new model will serve as a final hurrah for the aging Murcielago before a replacement arrives in 2011. Nicknamed ‘Jota’, Lamborghini’s next supercar has already been spotted as a test-mule, hidden under the bodywork of the Murcielago.

It was only a couple of days ago that we were telling you about another upgraded Lamborghini Murcielago expected to make its appearance at the Geneva Motor Show. Now we have word of yet another upgraded Murci, the LP-650 Roadster, that doesn’t go all-out with the upgrades but will still make the supercar air that much rarer.

Only 50 examples will be made of this particular bull, and all will be Grigio Telesto with orange accents such as splitters and brake rotors. To remind the driver that he – or she – is there to drive, the pilot’s seat comes in Alcantara Nera, while the passenger gets leather in Nero Perseus. The blacked-out theme is continued inside with black alcantara everywhere held together by Arancio Leonis stitching.

Don’t bother waiting for Geneva to get a glimpse – you should probably just head straight for your bank account manager’s office. You’ll need €500,000

There was a rumor that Lamborghini was working on a couple models that were rear-drive-only, news that enticed the most enthusiastic enthusiast. One model that was rumored was a lightweight version of the V12 Murcielago, allegedly called the SV.

According to recent reports, the SV is on the way, but that it will most likely retain the LP640’s AWD. A Ferrarichat forum member named Vik (screename ghost) says he’s seen the car, which will be called the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV. According to Vik, the car will weigh 220 lbs. less than the LP640-4 and will have an extra 30 hp. That should produce a 0-60 run of just 3.2 seconds and a bump in top speed of two mph to 213.

Vik says the look of the car is more aggressive, with a more angular front fascia, hood vents near the A-pillars, gloss-black wheels, large rear bumper protrusions, and a choice of two rear wings. The standard model will feature a smaller wing that allows the LP640-4 to reach a higher 342 km/h top speed, while the larger wing presumably trades a few mph for more downforce. The exterior will feature a lot of carbon fiber, with the whole lower body being comprised of matte-black CF to offset by the upper body’s gloss black paint. A big “SV” vinyl will be an option, but carbon ceramic brakes are standard. Prices are being set at 25% above the standard LP640, with an officially announcement in March and deliveries beginning in June. Vik says 350 units are planned, but speculation is that the actual number will be 100, with 350 being the total number of all versions of the Murci worldwide.

Interior photos of the Lamborghini Estoque have been released, revealing what could be if the concept goes into production.

These are our first pictures inside the Lamborghini Estoque’s cabin – and they show what drivers might expect in the cabin of a Lambo saloon in three years’ time if this Paris motor show concept gets the green light.

Swathed in cream leather, the Estoque’s interior is dominated by a huge transmission tunnel that divides the cockpit into four individual zones, each with its own bucket seat. There’s a razor-sharp, angular theme at work in the cabin: even the column stalks are hexagonal.

The Italian State Police get more than only the respect of fellow citizens when serving and protecting their country. They get a Lamborghini. Lamborghini donated a police version of its latest Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia to the head of the Italian State Police, Prefect Antonio Manganelli.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia replaces the current Gallardo Police Car which has clocked in close to 87,000 miles of patrol duty. We recommend not attempting to outrun Manganelli and his 560-hp Gallardo which can reach top speeds of up to 203 mph.

The Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia also features a lot of technological equipment on board that will assist the Italian Police to fight crime and control dangerous driving on the roads. You can read all about them after the jump in the press release.
